Here we are, in the month of December, the much anticipated and beautiful season of the year, with the spirit of Christmas on high and celebrations rolling.
As usual, our Christmas involves exchanging gifts, toys, ornaments, food, Santa Claus and others that immensely draw us into the celebration mood. But surely, it?s a tuff question, if the reason of the season is lost or the 'meaning' accompanies the celebration?
Christmas might seem another recurring festival. But the fact is thousands of years ago, under the dark and starry night; the much awaiting Emmanuel was born. As God's only son, Jesus came to this earth and gave his life for the cause of saving mankind. So how much have we comprehended the humble coming of God to this earth? God who explained the love of caring, through giving.
Bible in John 3:16–17 says, ?For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.? Yes, its love, the very reason, why God sent his son, so that we might not perish, but gain eternal life through him.
Therefore, the true meaning of Christmas is Love and with it comes forgiveness and reconciliation.
So what?s the best gift we can offer God, this Christmas? It?s approaching God with an offering of simple adornments, not gold or precious stones but a pure and clean heart, a heart of love and gratitude. It?s not important how we look externally or outwardly, but a pure and contrite heart is what matters.
Christmas should be a time that is focused upon the gift of God and the real meaning of Christmas, which is the redemption and reconciliation of man to God through Jesus Christ.
So may this season illuminate our hearts reminding us of the love and sacrifice by God, which conjugates and builds peace on this earth.
