The Assemblies of God churches are joining this weekend with the international coalition known as the 4/14 Window Movement to pray specifically for those in the 4/14 window - children between the ages of 4 and 14.
One million Christians across six continents will be agreeing in prayer for souls of children around the world.
"One of the most wonderful global trends we have seen in the last few decades is the growing passion of national churches for reaching children," says Randy Hurst, Communications director for AG World Missions.
"In many cultures, children have traditionally been merely tolerated or ignored - sadly, often even by the church. But in many countries that has been changing. The 4/14 emphasis focuses attention on the billions of children that need the love of followers of Christ and the message of the Savior."
More than a billion children between the ages of 4 and 14 represent a monumental challenge and opportunity to the church as boys and girls in the 4/14 Window are often much more receptive to the gospel than older youth and adults.
"In the decade between the ages of 4 and 14, most children develop their spiritual and moral foundations," Hurst says. "Research shows that almost 85 percent of individuals in the United States who accept Christ do so during this period. Statistics in other parts of the world are very similar."
Greg Mundis, executive director of AG World Missions, states, "AG World Missions and national churches throughout the world are committed from the depths of our hearts to ministering to the children of our world. Christ - our example - both had time for the children and cared about them. Let's pray and believe God for a spiritual harvest of souls among children that is beyond what we could ask or imagine."
