Andhra: Students attacked for distributing Christian literature

A group of students in the state of Andhra Pradesh was attacked for distributing Christian literature. The incident occurred at Hanwada village in Mahaboobnagar district, June 4.

The group consisting of around 20 students was distributing Christian literature when members of Hindu fanatic groups protested, reported All India Christian Council.

The Hindutva activists later informed the police and had the students arrested.

"While some students managed to escape in one vehicle, the activists managed to take nearly 13 students along with their vehicle to the police station," aicc reported.

"The activists questioned their right to spread Christian faith at the village. They warned the students that if they tried to come to the village again, they would not spare them. The police intervened and sent the students away to avoid further troubles," the council added.

In another incident, Hindu radicals attacked a church near Medchal in Ranga Reddy district, AP.

On allegations of forceful conversion activities in the area, a group of Hindu activists stormed the Jesus Christ Prayer House (Yesu Christu Prathana Mandirama) and attacked the pastor.

A complaint against the attackers has been filed in the nearby police station.
