Incidents of attacks against Christians in Karnataka prolongs, even after the recent culmination of the Christian Rights rally to hew hatredness and ensure enhanced security for Christians in the state, learned Christian Today.
Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), a major advocacy group based in Bangalore, confirmed series of attacks against missionaries in the state, performed last week.
According to GCIC, Simon (31), a missionary associated with the Vishva Vani ministry, in Mayasandra Village, Tumkur district, was attacked by a group of 100–120 Hindutva radicals on 7th October –– while conducting a service.
The seething radicals, barged into the church, abused the believers and accused the pastor of forceful conversion. They proceeded to beat the missionary and believers, rendering serious injuries
Followed by this, is another incident in the state –– where two evangelists working for a Christian ministry were beaten during a worship service. The assault resulted in causing bleeding of blood profusely from the body.
The attackers left the hall, seeing the deteriorating physical condition, said GCIC.
Surprisingly, when the evangelists approached the police to file a complaint, the Sub Inspector Mr. Suresh returned the Christians petrifying them of being jailed under atrocities act, as one of the men among the attackers, is the son of a powerful politician.
Last month, hundreds of Christians in the state took part in a Christian rally organized by the Karnataka Chraista Sangh (Christian Association) members and led by Member of Parliament and former Police Commissioner, Dr. HT Sangliana.
The scaling violence and the benighted police are still a concern for Christians, whose freedom seems constricted.
