Bajrang Dal activists who have abducted 16 Christian believers from a church at Lanji village in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh on January 9, have threatened to kill them.
According to information obtained by All India Christian Council (AICC), the activists had encroached upon the church premises and had painted graffiti on the church walls along with anti–Christian slogans.
However, the local police have refused to entertain any complaint saying that the allegations were "just false rumours."
According to Inspector Ahmed, there was no major problem in the area. It was just the result of some misunderstanding between two groups of people. "We have provided adequate protection in the area and action is being taken," he said.
AICC has condemned the incident and has sought immediate intervention from the State Government to rescue the believers and restore normalcy in the village.
