Campaign lauched to pray for India

Two evangelists have launched a month-long prayer campaign in an effort to mobilize Christians worldwide to pray for India's redemption from "suffering and poverty".

The 'Pray for India Campaign' initiated by Evangelist Samuel Ng Katz and Rev. A Jawahar Samuel will build up a dedicated group of prayer warriors "who will stand in the gap and pray for India" through July.

Both these evangelists have been instrumental in building up two movements, namely, The Love of Jesus Ministries, and the CCC Worldwide Trumpet Ministries.

Stating that God put a burden in their hearts to pray for India, they said, "God's heart has been stirred by India's plight, and hence Jesus is looking for intercessors through whom he can act."

There is an urgent need for prayer because about "45% of the 1.17 billion population live in miserable conditions suffering from stigmas like poverty, hunger, disease, and pain," they added.

There are approximately 2000 ethnic communities in India some of which are fractioned by violence and bloodshed, they rued.

Further, it is also "surprising to know that more than 3 million inhabitants are suffering from the dreadful menace of AIDS."

Hundreds of 'prayer warriors' have supposedly signed in through their website at www.blessindiaonline.com.
