For the first time, the Catholic Priests' Conference of India, will award 15 senior diocesan priests for their outstanding service in the country.
During the last CPCI meeting, a decision was taken to recognise the achievements of the diocesan priests by rendering national awards for excellence.
The awards would be distributed to the priests in their national get together scheduled for December 3-4 at St. Pious College, Goregaon, near Mumbai.
"The award consists of a plaque and a citation. The priests were selected from among the 40 nominations received from different dioceses of India. Fr. Sebastian Poomattam, of the Raipur diocese headed the selection committee," according to Catholic news sources.
