To counter both 'unemployment' and 'underemployment', the Catholic Church has come out with a new initiative - a website that connects with employees and employers.
On the occasion of Labour Day, CBCI Commission for Labour, launched a portal website - www.jobtech.in - which aims to "provide better job opportunities and facilitate the unemployed of India."
CBCI hosts the vision of providing "instant and credible information about jobs and jobseekers" in the "internet based employment databank which is accessible to all".
Along with it, the church also proposed an idea of "Mazdoor Suraksha Yojna" - a social security scheme for unorganised workers.
The initiatives were made public at a function presided over by Rev. Joshua Mar Ignathios, Chairman of CBCI Labour Commission.
"The above said initiatives are expected to provide a considerable support on genuine requirements of the workers and their family irrespective of their rank and file," CBCI said.
Mr. Sandeep Silas, personal secretary to the Labour Minister was the chief guest at the event.
