The catastrophic floods that caused damages to millions of people have raised the concern of Christian Aid organization based in UK that has launched an appeal to help the affected by providing food, clothing and shelter.
Christian Aid partner organizations in India have already started distributing emergency food rations, cooking utensils, water purification tablets and clothing for the flood victims in both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The aid is targeted to reach 50,000 people.
Experts according to the current predictions for global warming say, such disasters and floods are set to become frequent and worse. Even if the water level subsides, still it will take four months to restore and be back to normal life.
"This level of constant rainfall in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh states is unprecedented. We have never witnessed this before," said Anand Kumar, from the Christian Aid office in India.
"The monsoon season usually starts in late August. But this year we have already had 15 days of sustained rainfall."
The organization has already allocated funds of £250,000 towards this work but more money is needed.
