All India Christian Council (aicc) organised a seminar on 'Government Schemes for the Christian Minorities' at OM India, Jeedimetla Village in Hyderabad of Andhra Pradesh on 24 June 2009. Christian leaders from all over the state took part in the programme.
Dr Sam Paul, the aicc National Secretary, chaired the meeting. Bishop Pratap Sinha Komanapally was the chief guest. Stanly Babu, the IRTS Adviser to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and JR Sudheer Kumar, the Managing Director, the Andhra Pradesh Christian Minority Commission, were also present.
The leaders welcomed the governments at the Centre and in the State and expressed happiness in their win against divisive, communal, and sectarian political forces. The Council also thanked Chief Minister Dr YS Rajashekara Reddy for requesting the Central Government to give SC status to the Dalit Christians.
JR Sudheer Kumar spoke about the special schemes and other concessions for the Christian Minorities and invited the Christian leaders to make use of the schemes allotted to the Christian community.
Prabhu Kumar, the aicc State Secretary in Andhra Pradesh, said aicc would coordinate with the minority welfare officer in handling the schemes and making them available to common Christians.
The Christian Council felicitated the chief guest and other important invitees with shawls. All the district presidents of aicc were present in the meeting.
