Two Missionary run schools in the state was ransacked by a little known Hindu outfit group, for not declaring a holiday on the 'Pitramoksha Day', on Wednesday.
The Holy Cross and Saint Xavier's school were the two schools under attack. The accusers alleged that the school authorities have taken to Western culture rather than implementing the age–old Indian culture.
Although the state government, declared a holiday in all state–run educational institutions in the state, the Christian schools, remained open.
The attackers, who were armed with rods and sticks, proceeded to damage two buses, belonging to the Saint Xavier's school at Ashoka Towers in Shankar nagar, said city SP Shashi Mohan Singh.
"Missionary schools declare holidays during Western festivals, but they don't respect Hindu festivals. If my son goes to school on 'Pitramoksha Day', how can he learn our traditional rituals," said Dharma Sena leader Kishore Kothari, quoted secular news.
He added, "If missionary school managements don't mend their attitude, more protests will take place."
