Church leader calls for reopening Jacobite shrine

Aluva – In a major step taken to end the ongoing factional fued within the Malankara Church, Catholicos Mar Baselius Thomas I has called for reopening the Jacobite Church at Thrikkunnathu, which has remained closed for the last 29 years.

Expressing readiness to enter into dialogue with the state Government, its representatives and other impartial teams deputed to solve the issue, the Catholicos said that the Church should be reopened for prayers.

``It is a great injustice to see the Church and the cemetry where our forefathers were laid to rest, remaining neglected without prayers for long,'' he said, adding that the state government should be ready to ensure human justice.
