People of different faiths Sunday congregated at the Marthoma Syrian Church in Bangalore to pray for those who laid down their lives for the country fighting terrorists.
The two-hour service consisted of thanksgiving and prayers, and additionally excerpts from Shashi Tharoor's `India: From Midnight To The Millennium', Rabindranath Tagore's `India Awakening' and Jawaharlal Nehru's `Trtyst With Destiny' was read out.
Among the many attending the special service was relatives of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Squadron Leader P V Venkatraman, Captain Kevin Kumar, Major Sylvester Rajesh Ratnam and Colonel Jojan Thomas.
All of them are residents of Bangalore and has been honored by the Indian government for their bravery.
"Peace-making is about action, not apathy. It calls for confrontation. But at the end of it, blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God," Times of India quoted Fr Sham P Thomas, department of communication, United Theological College, Bangalore, saying.
The service was also participated by the military police band.
