Vellore – The Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, had organized a 2–day national conference on 'Leadership in Healthcare' that was aimed at providing a thorough insight into effective leadership in healthcare in India.
The conference that took place on November 11–12, 2005, was attended by people from various walks of life, including hospital administrators, public health programme managers, senior policy makers, heads of NGOs running large health programmes, technical officers of international agencies, health insurance companies, third party administrators and faculty of medical colleges and management institutes.
Some of the topics addressed during the conference were national, urban and rural healthcare, potential of IT in healthcare, vision, goals and strategies of healthcare organizations and corruption and malpractice in medical profession.
At the end of the conference, each participant was able to think out–of–the–box by using innovative and creative methods that enhanced teamwork. The sessions provided valuable insight into creating winning teams that used appropriate compassionate technology to strive for quality with a commitment to excellence.
