Ludhiana – Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) has launched its rural health programme with Trident Group in the rural areas of Sangrur, especially Barnala, in Punjab.
Over 1700 patients were given free medical advice by medical practitioners of various specialities like general medicine, gynae, orthopedics ophthalmology, pediatrics, dermatology, surgery and ENT, free diagnostic facilities and medicines were also provided to the patients.
Principal secretary to the Prime Minister of India, TKA Nair inaugurated the camp. He also laid the foundation stone of the proposed Trident–CMC hospital to be built by Trident Group to extend medical aid to locals.
He said that Prime Minister has announced healthcare modules for rural belt of India under the banner of National Rural Health Mission.
Punjab health secretary, Darbara Singh Guru has admitted to scarcity of medical assistance in countryside and offered support of Punjab health department to implement outreach programmes to meet healthcare requirements of rural people.
