New Delhi – To commemorate its 34th Anniversary, Church of North India (CNI) jointly hosted a 2–day ‘International Workshop and Consultation on HIV/AIDS and Interfaith Strategies’ entitled ‘Wake up to the Challenge’ with National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) at CNI Bhawan on Nov. 29 and 30, 2004.
On Nov. 29, the workshop and consultation program on HIV/AIDS was preceded by praise and worship of thanksgiving during which students of St. Thomas School and Mr. Manish and his praise group (Friends from the Messenger) led the audience to a short session of praise. Students of St. Crispin’s School, Gurgaon also participated and put up an inspired dance performance.
The Rev. Enos Das Pradhan, General Secretary, CNI Synod, in his welcome address, called for the unity of the various churches in India to meet the challenges of the future.
On the occasion of the 34th Anniversary of CNI, Dr. K. Rajaratnam, former President, NCCI, released devotional materials that would form part of the theological education for the clergy and the laity, uniting one and all in tradition, liturgy and culture.
A short but well documented film, ‘Journeying with the People,’ was also presented by CNI and it mapped the origin, history and growth of this Church and its mission over the years, highlighting its major achievements, its holistic activities and the challenges it faces today.
