Court issues notice, seeks co-operation: Nun's rape

The Catholic nun who was raped during the Kandhamal violence has been asked by the sub divisional judicial magistrate in the district to remain present during the test identification parade of the accused persons on 10 November.

Addressed to the Bishop House, Bhubaneshwar, a notice urged for co-operation of the nun after the Crime Branch expressed difficulty in proceeding.

Earlier at a press conference, the nun had accused the police for standing idle on August 25, when she was gang-raped. She demanded a CBI probe into the case and said she had no faith in the investigation by the Orissa police.

In her written complaint on August 26, the nun alleged that a mob of about 40 to 50 armed men attacked a house at K. Nuagaon village where she along with a priest, Thomas Chellantharayil, had taken shelter after their centre was attacked.

The mob dragged her and the priest and took them to the deserted office of an NGO where she was raped, according to the complaint.
