The CPI(M)'s ongoing Congress has adopted a resolution demanding the inclusion of Dalit Christians and Muslims in the Scheduled Caste list.
The resolution, adopted at the 20th party Congress meet at Kozhikode, Kerala, criticised the Central government for its delay in implementing the Ranganath Misra Commission report that favoured Scheduled Caste status for Dalits irrespective of faith.
The resolution also demanded 10 per cent reservation for Muslims and additional reservation for other minorities in education and employment.
The Communist party hit out at the government for not clarifying its position on the reservation despite consistent demand by the Left and others.
It further slammed the RSS and BJP for its communal campaign against the SC status and termed it a legitimate right of the minorities for reservation in jobs and education.
Meanwhile, in another resolution adopted by the party Congress, the CPI(M) expressed grave concern over the 'misuse' of the government machinery in BJP-ruled states.
Pointing to the "hate propaganda" of the RSS and its many fronts responsible for the rise of Hindutva terror group, the party said the involvement of RSS pracharaks in terror acts across the country had proved the same.
"The utter hypocrisy of the RSS combine's claim to be a patriotic force against terrorism is thoroughly exposed by the fact that many RSS pracharaks are accused in the cases of bomb explosions in Malegaon, Mecca Masjid, Ajmer Sharif and the Samjhauta train blasts in which hundreds of innocent people were killed," stated the resolution, as first reported by The Hindu.
Furthermore, the resolution noted that public money was being channelled through NGOs sponsored by the RSS to help them spread their "communal agenda", especially in states such as Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
The resolution said in Madhya Pradesh land has been given to communal outfits and secular welfare schemes like mid-day meal or anganwadi centres were being communalised through the introduction of Hindu rituals.
