Dalit Christians Observe Human Rights Day as Black Day

Thiruvanathapuram – On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, the Council of Dalit Christians, Kerala, a forum of Dalit Christian organizations and representatives of churches, described the denial of scheduled caste reservation benefits to Dalit Christians as human rights violation.

At a news conference here, Council General Convener P M Rajeev and other leaders said that to protest the ''religious discrimination towards Dalit Christians,'' the Human Rights day, falling on December 10, would be observed as a 'black day' in the state.

Marches to the Secretariat and Collectorate at Kottayam and Kannur were taken out. Protest demonstrations and dharnas were also be staged on that day as part of the agitation.
