Evangelist beaten and tied to a tree by Hindu radicals in Bangalore

An evangelist aged 41, was beaten and tied to a tree by 10 Hindu radicals–while he was distributing tracts and other Christian literatures in a village in Karnataka.

According to the Global Council of India Christians (GCIC), the Evangelist named Anthappa was doing village ministry in Madhikare village, Chinthamani. The radicals angered by the Evg. who was distributing literatures, beat him and tied him to a tree. After having him bound for 3 hours, the assailants chased him out of the village.

Injured Anthappa, after reaching the nearest hospital, got himself treated. Surprisingly he says, he wants to continue his ministry and hence do not want to file a police complaint against the villagers.

In another incident, a Pastor of Christian Ministries Church in Bangalore was beaten up by a group of people led by Mr. Narayana Swamy. The pastor is on treatment in a medical college hospital.

Christians in Karnataka, saddened by the persecutions against the community are conducting a rally on September 22, to protest against the treatment rendered. The rally will be led by Member of Parliament H T Sangliana.
