Despite a petition filed against the "Festival of Life" show in Bengaluru aka Bangalore, the event witnessed huge crowds thronging to catch a glimpse of their favourite televangelist, Joyce Meyer, and worship leader Darlene Zschech.
Relieving the organizers and Joyce Meyer Ministries, the High Court, yesterday, dismissed a petition seeking a stay on the religious programme.
A native of Bangalore, Mr. Venugopal, filed a public interest litigation seeking a stay on the three-day programme at Palace grounds.
Claiming that a private function is being organized in the guise of public function and numerous people are expected, the petitioner complained, it could lead to road chaos.
The court dismissed the petition and directed the city police to ensure the programme does not disrupt the traffic.
The event, for the second consecutive year brings New York Times Bestselling author Joyce Meyer and special guests - Tommy Barnett, Darlene Zschech from Hillsong, Australia and Delirious from UK.
The previous one held in 2008, at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, saw over 2.5 lakh participants.
