New Delhi – Persecution against the Gospel for Asia (GFA) missionaries seem to be on the rise with the latest attack being perpetrated on GFA pastor Sujin and a Bible school that he had recently opened, according to GFA website.
It has been nearly a year since Sujin began sharing the love of Christ in one area of India. Through his evangelistic outreach, 20 new believers meet regularly for worship. He recently started a GFA home Bible school as well, where he began to pour his life into five men who had heard God’s call for ministry.
Two weeks ago, he led two teams of students for outreach in the surrounding community. Suddenly a radical anti–Christian group approached one of the teams and began to attack the students, beating them severely and demanding that they turn back.
When the pastor heard what was going on, he rushed over and rescued the students from further harm. But through threats and intimidation, members of the radical group had collected information from the students—now they knew the location of the home Bible school. Later they stormed the pastor’s home, demanding that he and the students leave the area immediately. Fearing for their lives, three of the students fled.
The other two students stayed, despite the opposition. Tragically, the father of one of the remaining students was brutally beaten by the anti–Christian group and was admitted into a hospital. Because of this incident, one more student left the home Bible school.
Now just one brother remains with the pastor – and he is frightened by the persecutors’ threats. Pray for God’s peace to reign in this situation and that His matchless comfort will rest upon Pastor Sujin and this student. Pray for the other students’ soon and safe return to the ministry where God has placed them.
