Gujarat: Chief Minister and World Hindu Council accused in genocide

A well known independent weekly newspaper, Tehelka, known for its news coverage, unaligned to any of India's established media groups unearthed a planned genocide strategised and executed by top functionaries of the Hindu saffron groups, RSS, the VHP and the Bajrang Dal, on 2002 Gujarat carnage that had killed over 1000 people.

According to the Tehelka expose, the Gujarat murder of Muslims was not a spontaneous swell of anger, but a planned genocide strategised and executed by top functionaries of the RSS, the VHP, the Bajrang Dal and the state authorities, with the knowledge and sanction of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The magazine revealed that bombs were manufactured in factories owned by senior Bajrang Dal and VHP activists, arms were smuggled from UP, MP, Bihar, Punjab and then distributed to execution squads led by MLA’s and senior members of the Sangh Parivar.

The magazine's editor–in–chief Tarun Tejpal said at a press conference that it had done a sting operation over the last six months by talking to a number of Sangh Parivar leaders, including Godhra BJP MLA Haresh Bhatt, Shiv Sena leader Babu Bajrangi, who was earlier in VHP, and VHP leaders Anil Patel and Dhawal Jayanti Patel to bring out the truth.

Among topics unearthed were:
• A pregnant woman’s womb which was indeed pierced with a sword and the foetus wrenched out.
• How Muslims hiding in a gutter in the hope that they would survive were killed.
• In the Gulbarg Society massacre, a first–hand account of how the former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri was hacked limb by limb and burned.
• Confessions to rape, something the state has consistently denied.
• How dozens of Muslims hiding in a pit and clinging together in fear in Naroda Patiya were doused with kerosene and burnt alive.

According to the press release, A BJP MLA is on tape saying he was present in the meeting in which Chief Minister Narendra Modi gave them three days time to do whatever they wanted. These are his exact words, “He had given us three days time… to do whatever we could. He said he would not give us time after that… He said this openly. After three days, he asked to stop and everything came to a halt."

The investigation further reveals there were the strategists – leaders, officials, ideologues. And there were the foot soldiers, who actually raped, killed and looted. To help these foot soldiers escape the law, the strategists had constituted a panel of lawyers sympathetic to the ‘Hindu cause’.

The Chief Minister, Narendra Modi has won a landslide electoral victory and is preparing for another. “Most survivors have shifted to ghettoes on Ahmedabad’s outskirts; the few who returned to their previous homes are living a marginalised life, under economic and social boycott by their Hindu neighbours,” noted a local news.

Meanwhile, Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) has severely criticized the Saffron groups for planning such demonic acts in the society and noted, "Most of the attacks against Christians are carried out by the same diabolic teams."
