Hindu extremists disrupt Christian meeting in Madhya Pradesh, rob pastor

A group of Hindu extremists, March 2, disrupted a Christian meeting in the Patakhera area of Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, attacking the believers and vandalizing and looting the facility.

According to news obtained by the Christian Legal Association of India (CLAI), the extremists stormed the meeting of the independent church led by the Rev. Avinash Kanchan and started beating the believers, 25 women and five men.

The mob vented its ire on the pastor, slapping and beating him with shoes and damaged his motor–cycle that was parked nearby. The Hindu activists also robbed the pastor, snatching away his mobile phone, watch and Bible.

Pastor Kanchan has reportedly registered a complaint with the local police but when a CLAI representative spoke to the police, an officer claimed no one had filed a complaint.
