Hundreds of Christians including victims of violence against Christians are expected to attend the third National Conference of Persecuted Indian Christians in the country to be held in Hyderabad on February 28–29.
The Conference is hosted yearly by Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), a prominent Christian advocacy group based in Bangalore.
Commenting on the conference, Dr. Sajan George, President of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) said, "This is an attempt to recognize and honour the sufferings of Christians who live in remote locations, facing intense and prolonged persecution for their faith. It is also to challenge Christians in the rest of the country with their stories."
According to GCIC official, over 150 persecuted Christians from all over the country will participate in the two–days prayer and fellowship meeting including "widows whose husbands are martyred for their lives and Christian witness and the victims of persecution from 40 plus villages of Kandhamal, Orissa," – victims of series of violent against Christians in Orissa in December end last year.
"Testimonies of survivors of persecution and violence from Kashmir to Kanyakuamary will be shared, suffering and persecution is not the only common factor. Also common is the firm resolve by every one of the survivors to continue in their faith and work, with full faith in God," GCIC statement added.
The HSSS Auditorium in Hyderabad has been booked for the two–day event starting February 28.
