Indian Christian spiritual institute to promote inter–religious harmony

Mangalore – ‘Ryshivana,’ an institute of Indian Christian spirituality that aims to promote inter–religious harmony through dialogue and study of different religions, was inaugurated on January 4, 2006, Christian Today has confirmed.

The house of prayer and retreat, located on the scenic hills of Ranipura in Munnur village was inaugurated by Superior General of the Order Rev. Fr. Luis Arostegui Gamboa. Bishop of Mangalore, Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza blessed the gathering.

According to ‘Ryshivana’ director, Fr. Gregory D’Souza, the center aims at promoting Yoga to promote discipline and encourage prayer, meditation and contemplation through daily sessions on Yoga philosophy and practices.

‘Ryshivana’ has 70 bath attached well–furnished rooms that can accommodate 100 people, a library, lecture halls, chapel and a dining hall. To promote the culture of health consciousness among the people, breathing exercise, contemplation, meditation, balanced diet, exercise, rest and systems such naturopathy and ayurveda will be taken up.

The institute also aims at promoting Christian sprituality in collaboration with different schools of spirituality, both eastern and western, through a foundation called Spirituality Research Institute.
