The Kuki Christian Church (KCC) Manipur Synod concluded its 46th Assembly at Songlei Mongbung, Saikul Sub-Division, on January 20, 2025, marking a significant gathering for the religious community amidst ongoing regional tensions.
The four-day assembly, which commenced on 17 January, drew 170 church leaders under the banner “Pakai Chu Ka Ponlap Ahi” (The Lord Is My Banner), derived from Exodus 17:15. The event served as a spiritual refuge during what organisers described as “trying times, marked by socio-political unrest and challenges faced by the Kuki community.”
The delegates engaged in heartfelt intercessions, seeking divine guidance and protection for the Kuki people and their future. Particular emphasis was placed on prayers for community leaders, frontline workers, and those working tirelessly for the community’s welfare.
In a moving ceremony, the assembly bid farewell to ten retiring pastors who had served the community for more than four decades. Their unwavering faith and service were celebrated as exemplars of commitment to both church and society. The occasion also celebrated academic achievement, with recognition given to students who excelled in Sunday school and Synod examinations.
A key moment of the assembly was the ordination of four new pastors: Letgoulen Khongsai, Lamgoulen Khongsai, Jamkholal Lupho, and Joyful Khongsai, symbolising the church’s continued growth and renewal.
Senior church officials delivered thought-provoking messages emphasising resilience and unity. Among the speakers were Dr T. Lunkim, Executive Secretary of the KCC Manipur Synod, Dr S. Chongloi, Assistant Executive Secretary, Rev. J. Lunkim, Moderator, and Thangkholam Chongloi, Assistant Moderator. Their sermons focused on the assembly’s theme and the importance of unity and prayer during adversity.
The assembly featured extensive prayer sessions focusing on community welfare. “The assembly served as a testament to the unwavering faith of the Kuki community,” said one church representative, highlighting the gathering’s role in fostering unity and spiritual strength during difficult times.
The event, held in Kangpokpi District, concluded with participants expressing renewed commitment to community service and harmony. Church leaders emphasised the KCC’s continuing role as a source of spiritual guidance for the Kuki community, founded on principles of love, unity, and service.
This assembly marks a significant moment for the Kuki Christian Church, which continues to play a vital role in providing spiritual leadership and community support in Manipur, particularly during the current period of regional instability.
The gathering’s conclusion saw delegates departing with renewed hope, a sense of purpose, and a strengthened commitment to fostering unity and harmony within the community. The emphasis throughout the assembly remained on spiritual renewal and communal solidarity, reflecting the church’s broader mission in the region.
