The September 2008 Malegaon blasts accused wanted to create a 'Hindu rashtra' (Hindu nation). During investigation, it was revealed that Lt Col Prasad Purohit and his associates, who were extremely chauvinistic, had planned to set up an underground organisation to inculcate the idea of a 'Hindu Rashtra'.
Purohit, according to the MCOCA court, told a gathering that, they needed to create two organisations, one a "public face" and the other a strong underground movement. "We do not accept the Constitution of this country and there is no doubt that we must fight," he said.
The army officer founded the Pune-based Abhinav Bharat for this purpose, and wanted it to be a "front organisation with the intention of propagating a Hindu Rashtra with their own constitution and aims and objects as Bharat Swarajya, Surajya Suraksha in its preamble."
To achieve this, they suggested joining hands with Hindus in several countries-Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, Nepal and Korea and establish a Hindu nation that benefits and exists only for the Hindu community. They even sought the help of Israel for military assistance, and even to voice its support in the UN for the 'Hindu rashtra'.
The organisation conducted meetings in various places across the country, Ahmedabad, Ujjain, Bhopal, Kolkata, Jabalpur, Indore, Faridabad and Pune, where Lt. Col. Purohit came into contact with the other suspects.
Excerpts from the 'constitution' the group proposed, mentioned Muslims and Christians as enemies, further it also talks of forming Buddhist and Hindu nations' union to fight Islamic and Christian invasions.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in its over 4000 pages chargesheet noted that the organisations' aim was to radicalize Hindu youths. Some of the files recovered from the laptop of the accused suggested they were devising a Hindu terrorist group on the lines of 'Jihadee terrorism' by gathering information about Islam and Jihad.
They were up against the Indian Constitution and the diverse and secular fabric of the country, said the charge sheet filed on Tuesday.
Suspended Army man Lt Col Prasad Purohit, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Swami Dayanand Pandey have been arrested for the September 29 blast in Malegaon that killed six people. The ATS chief said the conspirators made Muslims the target of their terrorist activity and Malegaon just the start.
Last year, an exclusive report by the Christian Today had unearthed the mobilizing of top Hindu leaders in secret, to form 'terror groups' which will be sent to heavily populated Christian and Muslim locations.
Church leaders fear that dozens of radical groups working underground are planning deliberate attacks on Christians. The recent Orissa violence for instance paralyzed the Christian community, killing dozens and forcing thousands homeless. Church leaders allege they have lost faith in the judicial and democratic system of the government.
