In Gujarat, the land that gave birth to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation, a silent but meticulously planned war is being waged against the Christian community, particularly the adivasi and tribal Christians. How long will it remain silent, no one can predict, given the predilections of those who have been perpetrating the baiting campaign. At any time it could break into a violent eruption, like a mighty volcano, sufficient to wipe out thousands at a stretch. What additional proof is required other than the gory details of the dark nights of Christmas 2000 in the district of Dangs! Although the perpetrators cannot stomach the sight of the minorities, it is the Christian community that is often at the receiving end. That the community is successful in reaching out to all those living on the margins of society has not gone down well with them. They would have no doubt preferred to let the marginalized remain in no man’s land for ages without any identity, without any ownership.
