Nuncio visits Mumbai for church celebrations

Mumbai – Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana, Representative of Rome’s Holy See, Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana visited Mumbai to commemorate two anniversaries of the Catholic Church in the city.

On December 6, the Apostolic Nuncio conducted a special mass at the city’s Holy Name Cathedral in Colaba to celebrate the centennial year of the church.

The Archbishop also conducted a mass at Don Bosco on December 5 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Eucharistic Congress that was held in Mumbai.

The Congress, that brings together bishops, priests and lay people for prayers and discussions, is aimed at showing devotion to the Eucharist, one of the main principles of the church.

The meeting is held every four years and was held for the first time in India in 1964. The then Pope Paul VI, the first head of the church to visit India had presided over the meet.
