OM founder to speak on mission challenges in Delhi

After forty long years, the capital New Delhi gets a rare opportunity to meet Dr. George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization (O.M), and author of several books.

On February 20, George will address an assembly of pastors, Christian activists and mission leaders, at the Centenary Methodist Church, speaking on 'Mission in Global Challenges'.

"We have great joy in letting you know that Dr. George is visiting Delhi second time after 40 years," said a note from the organizers.

"George is no stranger to Christians all over the world. With his passion to reach the World with the gospel, he has enthused, challenged, motivated, trained and mentored a host of young men and women," it added.

Terming it a 'historic trip', the note urged Christian leaders to be "inspired and blessed in fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ."

George, who became a Christian at a Billy Graham convention, founded Operation Mobilization in 1957 and led the organization for over 40 years before stepping down in August 2003.

Today OM reaches across the world through two ships and over 5,000 people working in over 110 countries, seeking to "demonstrate and proclaim the love of God." It is dubbed as one of the largest mission agencies in the world.

Since 1970, OM's ships have visited over 480 different ports in 150 countries and territories around the globe. On average, 1 million visitors are welcomed on board every year.

The India Group of OM Ministries began its work in 1964.
