Pastor and believers attacked on charges of conversion

During a Sunday worship service in Bhilai of Madhya Pradesh, a pastor and church believers were beaten and injured by 50 Hindu fanatics believed to be the Bajrang Dal.

Pastor Babula Chandra Paik, the pastor of the church, said, the fanatics entered the church with latis and sticks, raising slogans against the congregation. They protested against the Pastor's alleged conversion activities in the area.

However the Pastor has denied the allegations and said they are baseless and fabricated.

The fanatics were a team led by Rajesh Thabre and Sudeep Banerjee, leaders of Bajrang Dal.

After manhandling the pastor, they continued beating two elderly believers among whom one was badly injured. Church property and copies of Bible were also damaged by the group.

An FIR has been booked by Pastor Babula and the church members against the attackers. Arrests are yet to be made.
