A church in Sagar town in Shimoga district in Karnataka was attacked by the Bajrang Dal activists during the worship service on Sunday, 29 July 2007 leaving 5 persons hospitalized and injuring the pastor.
The Believer Church of India Assistant Pastor Dennis who was leading the worship service was severely attacked with the other church believers when 10 Hindu Activists barged into the church and started beating. The senior Pastor Thankappan was away on some important work during the attack.
Five believers were taken to the hospital, while several others were injured on their heads and hands
The assailants attacked carrying lethal weapons including knives, swords and iron rods.
The police investigated and visited the church after the believers filed a complaint. Dalit Leader Annappa has also taken this issue to the local authorities.
This event is another addition to the latest attack on believers and pastors in India.
