A Pastor who runs an orphanage and Bible College in Kothanur, Bangalore was yesterday, September 10, beaten by a group of 35 men, who damaged his legs with boulders and fractured his back and neck severely.
A Christian Today correspondent, when contacted an associate of Dr T L Angan Haokip–the injured victim, was reported that the pastor who was driving along the busy Hennur road was at Geddalahalli village when a group of 35 men–sporting long marks on forehead, wearing red threads on wrists, stopped his vehicle and inquired if he was a pastor.
Upon knowing, Dr. Angam was a pastor, they brutally beat him and assaulted on full public view. They abused him and said, "It is because of you that the nation is getting ruined," and proceeded to beat him, quoted GCIC. They even damaged his jeep, on which he was traveling.
Rev. Letlal Haokip, a friend of Dr Angam told Christian Today, “These have all been done, with a motive behind. The attackers had already pre–planned and were waiting at a specified area where they believed, the pastor would arrive. We are completely shocked by the incident.”
According to Rev Letlal, Dr Angam–a native of north–east India, is the president of “Biblical Theological College and Seminar” and pastors the KWS church in Bangalore. He completed his M.Th. from ACA Theological College and did his Doctorate in Ministry, from Hyderabad.
GCIC, who met the pastor at his residence, was shocked to see him in a bruised condition and immediately took him to the Bapitist Hopital in Bangalore. Presently, the pastor is on treatment.
Surprisingly, when contacted the police, they were hesitant to file a complaint and cooked up saying, the pastor was booked for rash and negligent driving. The incident has surprised and terrified the Christians in Bangalore, who are afraid even the police seem benighted over the happenings.
Meanwhile, preparations for the September 22–rally, to protest against the injustice imparted towards Christians, have already begun. The rally will be led by Member of the Parliament, H.T Sangliana. Christians all over the city are believed to be participating in the event.
