Christian leaders of all major denominations in Punjab mobilised at an all-Christian community meeting to discuss its involvement in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Under the leadership of Father Jose at Holy Cross Church, Ludhiana, eminent Christian leaders from Protestants, Catholics, Pentecostal and Methodist etc participated in the event to discuss on the Lok Sabha elections as well as the issue of 'terrorism' that have jolted the entire nation.
"All the leaders have unanimously decided to consider fighting election by nominating a Christian candidate," Albert Dua, president of Holy Cross Church, was quoted by the Express News, as saying.
Warris K Masih from Church of North India, said, "We are calling a meeting on April 2 at Kalvari church, in which we will decide to which political party we should support."
During the meeting, it was discussed that rallies all over Punjab would be held to promote national integration and need for peaceful government.
K Masih, K. Koshi, Madan Lal, Issac Dutta, Pawan Gulzar, Augustin Dass, Advocate David Gill, Sarofin Kukkuu, K C Gupta and Alex P. Sunil, were among several other noted Christians who participated in the event.
