Hyderabad – K.S. Sudarshan, the chief of the Hindu nationalist organization, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has denounced the killing of innocent people, including women and children, in the name of ''Jihad to establish the supremacy of Islam.”
While addressing a RSS meeting in Hyderabad recently, the RSS supremo said that acts of killing people in the name of Islam are inconsistent with the teaching of Islam that “reaches the concept of oneness of God.”
''There is no peace in any of the Islamic countries in the world,” he claimed, referring to the clashes between Shias and Sunnis in Pakistan as also between Iran and Iraq and within Iraq itself, between Sunnis and Kurds. However, the RSS chief was quick to add that only in India, the Muslims are able to live in peace.
Besides repudiating the British theory that Hinduism was also a religion similar to Islam or Christianity, Sudarshan expressed his concerns over the “competitive culture” of the western countries that has spilled over even in the churches, citing the clashes involving various Christian denominations, including the Catholics and Protestants.
The chief, however, has paid a glowing tribute to India and to its “rich composite culture.”
