Stage set for Karnataka Mission Congress Kristhotsava 2007

The regional Christian meeting, Karnataka Mission Congress Kristhotsava 2007, is scheduled to begin on 8–10 Nov 2007, said president of the event organising committee Robert Miranda.

Explaining the importance of the conference, Archbishop of Bangalore and patron of the Congress, Bernard Moras said, “The regional Congress is a celebration of our faith, which is God’s gift to humanity. By celebrating our faith we wish to rededicate ourselves to the commitment made in our Baptism and Confirmation, first of all to re–evangelize ourselves and to retell the story of Jesus to the people of other faiths and other cultures.”

The conference which will be held at Good Shepherd Convent Auditorium, Bangalore will be themed, “Retelling the Story of Jesus.” The three–day regional Congress will be held under the auspices of the Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council.

“Kristhotsava 2007 is a follow up of the Asian Mission Congress held in Chiang Mai, Thailand last year,” added Archbishop Moras.

Explaining the meaning of the theme, the organisers said, "Here the term story is meant, ‘the sharing of one’s personal experience of Jesus’. One has to be a witness of one’s faith. It is autobiographical and not like a story found in a book. He becomes ‘a living story’” emphasize the organizers.

“Such a story has the power of transformation, because this story has Jesus–experience, power of Jesus. But my story is actually his story lived in my life,” affirm the organisers.

The Karnataka diocese hopes that, through the event they can narrate delightful stories of Jesus’ through life witnesses and encourage the believers in the state.
