Chennai – The Annual Meeting of the Tamil Nadu Catholic Bishops' Council (TNBC) was held at Coimbatore from July 27–30.
The Council comprises of all the bishops of the ecclesiastical provinces of Madras–Mylapore, Madurai, Pondicherry–Cuddalore and the dioceses of the Oriental Rites in Tamil Nadu.
During the meeting, the secretaries of the various commissions of the region presented their annual reports and discussed the future plans for the region.
The regional bishops also held a meeting with the representatives of the regional CRI.
Archbishop Peter Fernando of Madurai is the president of the TNBC and Bishop Singaroyan of Salem is the secretary.
Having been consecrated recently, bishop of Tuticorin Yvon Ambroise and co–adjutor bishop of Sivagangai Jabamalai Susaimanickam also participated in the meeting for the first time as members.
