Dear Friend,
Jesus told His disciples that they knew the way where He was going, but Thomas asked how do we know the way? (John 14:4–6) Jesus made a very bold statement in answering that He is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE to the Father – leaving no room for the inclusive to tolerate all beliefs. No matter how wonderful a religion is or how many good things result from those religions, they all still fall short of entering into a relationship with the Father.
Jesus' reference to the three entrances into God's presence could be understood by His disciples due to their knowledge of God's Tabernacle in the wilderness. Laid out in the shape of a cross, this single entrance at the foot of the cross was the only way into the tabernacle and was a wide–curtained opening, speaking of the Father's love and desire that all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4) This gate to the court area was known as "WAY" and contained, first an altar for sacrifice and then a laver for washing by water. "Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God" (Hebrews 13:15). The Tribe of Judah, which means 'praise,' encamped here under its banner of a gold Lion on a background of scarlet. "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise." (Psalm 100:4)
The next entrance in the tabernacle opened into the Holy Place. With a golden lampstand to the left and table of showbread to the right, it created the 'arms' of the cross. The Israelites called this gate "TRUTH."
Finally, the entrance to the Holy of Holies was one large curtain, causing the priest to enter the presence of God either by stooping or bowing under the veil. It, therefore, shut mankind out from the life of God and the reality of eternal life itself unless he humbly came, knowing he was in need of a savior. The man who will not bow his knee and his heart to Christ cannot enter into eternal life, so it is no surprise that this veil was called "LIFE." Just as the cherubim guarded the way to the Tree of Life in Genesis, so the cherubim embroidered on the veil guarded the way to the life of God
Jesus told us He is the only WAY to God, the Father. He is the TRUTH that sets us free, and it is through His death and resurrection that He gives us eternal LIFE!
In the same way the wilderness tabernacle was situated in the middle of God's people, so is He in the midst of His people in times of tragedy.
