Threat posters against VHP leaders in Kandhamal

In the strife-torn Kandhamal district, Maoist posters threatened to kill four persons, those involved with the Sangh Parivar.

Posters were seen in Puburia village, holding out a threat to eliminate four persons, police said.

"We don't know whether the poster is written by Maoists or not, but we have beefed up the security in the area with deployment of the CRPF," Kandhamal SP Mr Praveen Kumar said.

The poster has come up five days after the killing of a Sangh Parivar activist Dhanurajaya Pradhani at Kumbharigaon. Pradhani was in the hit list of the Maoists.

Following the killing, curfew was ordered and police beefed up security in Christian institutions after members of Hindu outfit groups threatened of more violent attacks on Christians.

On August 23, the murder of a VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati in Kandhamal district, led to one of the largest anti-Christian violence in the country. Despite Maoists top leaders claiming responsibility for the slaying, Hindu fundamentalists accused Christians and indulged in violence that killed over 60 and rendered 50,000 homeless.

Meanwhile, two RSS activists were killed while making crude bombs in Cheruvanchery, Kerala on Monday.

"The bomb workshop was adjacent to a temple. The accident occurred when the victims tried to shift the bombs to another place," reported a national daily.

The CPI(M) was quick to blame the RSS and BJP for turning temples into armouries.

"RSS is solely responsible for the accident. The state leadership of the RSS and BJP are trying to instigate violence in Kannur once again," CPI(M) district secretary P Sasi said.

Our trusted sources report that several Hindu extremist groups are training young minds in bomb making and causing commotion in Christian populated areas. The arrest of four Hindu fundamentalists last week, in connection with the Malegaon blasts, has suggested the unfolding of Hindu terror groups in the country.
