Two incidents of persecution reported

The All India Christian Council reported two incidents of persecution on Christians on August 20.

In Kolkatta, activists belonging to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) attacked two believers at Amtala village alleging conversion activities.

The culprits forcibly collected signatures from all the villagers and filed a complaint against the Christians at the local police station, aicc reported.

To the South, members allegedly from an outfit of Sangh Parivar, set fire to a church at Mahasamudram village, Bangarupalyam mandal, in Chittoor district.

According to the aicc, "The church built by Chandraiah John with Pastor Solomon Raju on his own land was to be inaugurated for the village community shortly."

"When the believers noticed the burnt church in the morning on the following day, some of them went to the local police station and filed a complaint."

The council condemned the burning of the church and demanded that the culprits behind the incident be brought to justice at the earliest.
