Union FM lauds contribution of Christian community to nation building

Chennai – The Union Minister for Finance, P. Chidambaram, has lauded the contribution of the Christian community in all spheres of life, asserting that their role to nation building has been a very positive one.

The Finance Minister, who was present during the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Evangelical Church of India, also released a book entitled, “Christian Contribution to Nation Building.”

Also present on the occasion was Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, who called upon the minority communities in India, particularly Christians and Muslims to forge a common front for promoting communal harmony.

He also asked them to participate in the process of nation building.

Nawab Ali also urged the people to shun religious extremism and acts of “terrorism resulting in the killing of innocent people.”

Also present on the occasion was Sister Frederick M C, Assistant Superior General and Councellor of Missionaries of Charity who launched the next phase of constructing 1000 houses under the scheme ‘Roof for the Roofless.’
