“For your heart will always be where your riches are” (Matthew 6:21 GNB)
I was prompted this scripture reference by the Lord this morning. When I looked it up, I found it was this beautiful verse.
I’m the happiest when I’m with the Lord, praying, talking or writing or about Him and soar into a world of joy. On the other hand the boredom of my job gets me down, for I long to work for God’s kingdom and impatient while I wait for “His timing’ to open the door for me.
Very often, doubts also come to about our future, as my husband and I get older. I did not allow myself to improve in my career when I encountered Jesus powerfully. He changed my desires rapidly and gave me a passion and strong desire to ‘work for Him’ instead.
This led me to stop enhancing myself with earthly knowledge that could entrap me; and take me away from keeping the Lord first and seeking Him first above all things.
So this lack of being career minded – has not been financially rewarding. I did not focus on building my bank balance but focused on the Lord instead. After all these long years of surrendering and looking at Him, God has now become my total security.
When we turn 100% towards the Lord and walk with Him, it’s often a journey into the unknown. We stop planning our future as He is our future – we keep looking at Him for everything. However as we are human, we will have our normal ‘fears’ but immediately when this happens, we can rush to His side for reassurance.
It has not been easy to enter into this deep path of abandonment in trust and confidence in God but with His help I have made it.
Today, thru this scripture He said to me “Your heart will always be where your riches are”.
My heart is for Christ, for our Father and for working for His glory and to bring others into His Kingdom.
I feel emotional as I write…..for He’s telling me – I am very rich in Him. As if richer than the richest person in the whole world – WOW!
I am rich in God!
Friend do you know that if you too seek God and keep Him first in your life, keep Him above all things first and your heart full of Him – then you too are very rich? Irrespective of the size of your bank balance or the dollars or cents in your purse?
Let us be assured that He knows all that we have given up for Him; He will bless and provide for us when in need. We can trust in Him.
He will change our desires so that we do not need things as before. Jesus was very simple in His needs and He will change us to be ‘simple’ and happy with the true things in life.
Most of all “Jesus is the bread of life”, once we have tasted and found this bread…..no other bread that money can buy will ever satisfy us again.
“Dear Lord God, we thank You for your kind mercies and blessings on us. Please keep purifying our hearts at all times and keep us totally focused on You until the day we meet You rejoicing in heaven. Thank You for making us rich in You, for that’s what counts the most amen”
