National Council of Churches has assured to observe a 16-day activism against gender-based violence campaign.

Starting from Nov. 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to Dec. 10, Human Rights Day, the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign is a time to spur action to end violence against women and girls around the world.

The NCCI recommended churches, women fellowships, Christian organizations, related agencies, and regional councils, to actively participate in this campaign.

The church council said that Christians may observe the 16 days in different ways, such as articulating contextual themes or slogans, organizing prayer meetings, Bible studies, processions, poster campaigns, street theatres, and other advocacy programs.

The international campaign originated from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991.
