On this installment of WOW HITS, the wildly popular Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) series calls upon many of its frequently featured artists for a solid set of faith–based singles. Among the usually featured there are Nicole Nordeman with "What If", Third Day presenting emotive "Cry Out to Jesus", and TobyMac with the energetic and uplifting "Burn for You". All the inclusions yet again provide parallels to how close 21st–century Christian pop/rock is to it's secular counterpart.
The collection is cherishable by one and all as one can bump in to teenagers joining in to get their copies as there is a balanced and good mixture of both praise and worship songs. The avid collectors have further reason to grab it as there are two CD's for the price of one. As one WOW Hits devoted fan said,'The music is great, a real pick me up. The best Christian CD ever! I picked one up for everyone in my family'.
The CD has it all; from slow praise songs to upbeat worship songs. The songs have all been carefully selected with uplifting the spirits and renewing hopes in many as most agreed on this being a perfect starter for the new year for a Contemporary Christian Music fan.
Disc 1 opens up with Lifesong's "Casting Crowns" a runaway hit followed by MercyMe singing "So Long Self". Chris Tomlin wasn't left behind and is featured with his hit single "How great is our God". Jeremy Camp and Third Day usher in the rock flavor for the CD with "This man" and "Cry out to Jesus" respectively. Brian Littrell who had a busy year remembers his roots in "Welcome Home (You)". With almost similar titles "I am" and "Here I am"; Mark Schultz and Michael W. Smith pitch in for the compilation. Newsboys touched base with their rock ode "I'm free". Rebecca St. James with last year being very blissful croons "Alive". Teen idols Jars of Clay offer this time around "Dead man (Carry me)". Krystal Meyers adds on with "Fire".
After the first instalment one just can't help but reach out for the Disc 2 and to everyone's delight that also delivers though one has to accept that the first one is a few notches better than second. Barlow Girl hails one in with "Let go" and the pace is carried forward by Kutless, Relient K, Hawk Nelson and Joy Williams. Sanctus Real, Building 429, Shawn Mc Donald have been included as well. And there are two Bonus Tracks from Leeland "Sound of Melodies" and Group 1 Crew "Can't go on" that are good enough for easy–listening.
So in all, WOW Hits 2007 lives up to the name yet again and the compilation is to an extent worth the hype. Hurry and grab your copy !!
