myCCM.org: New Online Christian Music Community Launched

Connect. Listen. Share. That is what CCM Magazine, Christian music’s premier magazine, hopes to inspire with myCCM.org, a new web–based community built by CCM to complement its print and website properties.

myCCM.org, at http://www.myCCM.org, is a free, faith–based online community for users who share an interest in Christian music. myCCM.org members are able to connect in a positive environment and meet friends as well as share ideas, photos, interests, encouragement and, most of all, music. The site was launched, in response to the growth of the media company’s online entities, which have seen a 30 percent increase in visitors in the past six months.

“We wanted to create a redemptive, fun and informative environment where people with mutual interests can gather,” says CCM Magazine editor Jay Swartzendruber. “myCCM.org offers a unique community to people who share a passion for both faith and modern music. The result is a more satisfying experience for our members.”

myCCM.org members join free and have the ability to create custom profiles, upload pictures, audio and video, write blogs and participate in message boards. The social interaction happens when myCCM.org members invite friends, called “peeps” at myCCM.org, to be part of their networks. Additionally, the site features a customizable myCCM.org–branded RSS Reader to keep members in touch with favorite websites and news headlines all in one convenient location. myCCM.org also aims to be the best resource for Christian music fans looking for new music from both major and independent artists and bands.

myCCM.org appeals to more than just music fans. While it’s also designed to be a forum for the interaction between and networking of music or faith–based businesses and ministries, artists, both established and independent, may have the most to gain with the launch of myCCM.org. Rather than being one of thousands of artists on other sites, Christian artists stand to gain a larger presence and more exposure at myCCM.org. Among the multiple options available, artists are able to upload their music for streaming or download, receive feedback from other members, post tour dates and appearances, publish blogs, plus upload podcasts.

The relationships that can be developed between the artists and their fans are why Lava/Atlantic/Ardent/SRE group Skillet was one of the first artists to sign onto the myCCM.org launch. Skillet will release its new studio project, Comatose, on October 3.

"CCM is a magazine we always look forward to being a part of, and we're really excited to help them launch myCCM.org,” says Skillet front man John Cooper. “Skillet fans certainly love the Internet, and we're excited there's going to be a new way for them to find out about what's happening in Christian music and communicate with each other in a cool community of Christian music fans."

myCCM.org is moderated by the Faith Community Network, which oversees a family of community websites for the Salem Web Network generating 40 million page views a month and attracting over three million unique users. To join myCCM.org, users must agree to terms of service which include being 13 years of age or older.
