The Life of Serving

Jesus Himself taught us this greatest lesson.

He did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom. He taught us that it is more blessed to give than to recieve. In watering others, we ourselves are watered.

How? Our efforts to be useful, bringing out our power to be useful. There is within us talent placed by God, and if we organise ourselves, and push ourselves, then we can indeed be useful.

Often we hide behind our weaker images, but if we venture forth to fight the battle of the Lord, that belongs to the Lord, if we simply step out to fight this battle with faith, we might gain a great victory for Christ.
Isn't it true that we didn't know what tenderness and compassion we had inside of us, until someone came to us seeking help?

What a gracious lesson we recieve in giving to others! We went to teach the Bible, and we returned blushing that we knew so little. We went forth boldly seeking Christ, but found that he was already seeking us and waiting for us to open our hearts to Him. We discovered grace in places we did not know existed, a knowledge of love that was hidden behind humble faces.

Our own comfort was received, when we were placed in a position to comfort others, our own suffering, so that we might bring comfort to others. Isn't it true that we face suffering we receive a comfort with which we may also comfort others?

Like the two men walking through the snow, by carrying each other, saving each other's life.

He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?" (1 King 17:10 NIV)

Like the poor widow of Zarephath, who was asked to give from her scanty store everything she had, we too first have to empty ourselves before we can be filled.

Give, and it will be given to you.(Luke 6:38 NIV)

As we measure to others, so it will be measured to us. Let us live measuring generously to others first, so that we also may be measured well.
